Besom in York
We support this local Christian charity which acts as a bridge between people in need (referred to by the local Council and other agencies) and Christians who want to give time, quality furniture or goods. Contact Neil 07958 777247.
Occasionally a group meets to discuss a selected book. These can be Christian or contemporary. We meet in different homes. Contact Anne 07715774105.

Children’s talks at Church
Every week in the morning service a short illustrated talk is given specially for the young children. Contact Scott and Anna 01904 777105.
During the service after the second song creche is a stimulating and safe place for under 4s with Bible stories and craft while parents enjoy the service. Contact David 01904 764597.
Evangelistic Events team

Exploring Christian faith courses
For anyone interested in finding out about the Christian faith we run a variety of courses such as Christianity Explored and 321. Contact Gordon 07896 127828.
Film @ 60
On a regular basis we organise film evenings, of a great variety, at 60 South Bank Avenue. These are open to everyone, but has been popular with International Students especially. Contact Neil 07958 777247 or Anne 01904 703173.
Seven small groups meet on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evening on the 2nd and 4th week of the month across the city of York. Ladies Friday fellowship (Friday 10.30 am term time)
The ladies of the church meet for fellowship and prayer in different homes (programme available on request). On the first Friday of the month both men and women are welcome to Coffee@60. Contact Janet 07817 729910.
A reminiscence event for those of retirement age with music, food, a chance to reminisce and a short Christian talk. Contact Jane 07724 186767.
Men’s running group (Sat am)
Several men in the church who like running meet up on Saturday mornings for a run together. It’s a great opportunity to get/stay fit and get to know other men better. Contact Alastair 07773 3750211.
Missionary Work/Meeting (3rd Friday 7.45 pm)
Every month we receive prayer letters from missionaries we support as a church and pray for them together in Gordon and Janet’s home. Contact Gordon 07896 127828.
Once a month a small group meet to make song suggestions for upcoming services (see Calendar). Any church member is welcome to take part in these meetings. Members are also welcome to play in the Sunday music group. Contact Andrew 01904 206473.

Practical help on Sundays
Lots of things happen in the background at YEC. On Sundays people need to be welcomed, chairs need to be set out, the music set up, information tables arranged, projector and power point readied and operated, refreshments served, help the monthly church lunch setup and clearaway etc. Members are on the Rota to help out. If you are a new member contact Alastair, as there is always need for helping hands. Contact Alastair 01904 07773 750211.
For men with preaching potential, a preachers workshop lasting one academic year is available to hone preaching gifts. ‘Preaching and Teaching Old and New Testament’ by David Jackman is the course used. We meet once a month on a Saturday morning. Contact Mark 07845 967485.

Race Runners (Fri 6.30 pm weekly, term time)
School years 7-13. We meet for dinner, games and to learn from the Bible together, and for occasional socials. The venue alternates between the Steven’s and the MacIntyres’ homes. Contact Peter 07817 898329 or Duncan 07742 908629.
Shining Lights (Tues 6.15 pm fortnightly, term time)
A club for school ages 7-11 where we play and hear a Bible story. Open to church kids and their non-church friends. We meet at 60 South Bank Avenue. Contact David 01904 764597.
South Bank Outreach and Prayer
As we are located in South Bank we have various opportunities in the area to reach people with the Good News of Jesus. There is a weekly prayer time for South Bank Thursdays at 2 pm. All welcome. For events at 60 contact Neil 07958 777247. For the prayer meeting contact Maureen 01904 339728.
Student Work and Hospitality
Most Sundays hospitality is offered to students in YEC homes and once a month there is a student track called ‘Grounded’ which includes lunch. For more information contact Neil 07958 777247. For student hospitality contact Dan 07900 610967.
Sunday School (Sun am term time)
For Primary School age children, Sunday school meets during the morning service, generally after the second hymn. Children are taught about God and Jesus from the Bible in an age appropriate way. Learning is backed up by singing, games and other activities. YEC operates a Child Protection policy. Contact Jenny 07709959248.
Whole Church Prayer Meeting
On the first Wednesday of every month we meet as a whole church to pray at the Scarcroft Learning Centre. Contact Colin 07932 330310 with prayer requests.
