People for Christ

York Evangelical Church

Meetings

We meet in Millthorpe School at 10:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. every week. These meetings are open to all, and there is a crèche for young children during the service.

We meet once a month to pray together, and twice a month in smaller home groups to pray, study the bible and spend time together. Speak to us on a Sunday or get in touch for more information.

After you enter Millthorpe School from Philadelphia Terrace, you will travel a short distance before seeing the front entrance to the building amidst ample parking space. Entering the building, you will pass through a small lobby area where you will be greeted by two church members and given a programme for the day; if you have any questions or requirements, just ask!

Entering the main hall, you can findBibles and other literature on the right, and seating on the left. Before the service starts, usually a minute or two after the start time, feel free to chat with us or simply just take a seat.

The service itself is usually about 60 minutes long, starting with 30 minutes split between prayer, songs, news, and notices; this is followed by a 30 minute sermon, and finished with a song and prayer. On the second and fourth Sunday of each month we take communion in the morning and evening respectively.

After the service is finished, you can chat with and get to know us, and in the mornings, tea, coffee, and refreshments are brought out on trays. Additionally, on the morning of the third Sunday of each month, you are welcome to stay for our bring and share lunch which starts a few minutes after the service has ended.

Big Prayer

On the first Wednesday of each month, we meet together to pray as a church at 7:30 pm in 60 South Bank Ave. It is an opportunity for us to pray for our church, our local community and our world.

Home Groups

On the second and fourth weeks of each month, we meet together in smaller, informal groups in the homes of our members and during the day at 60 South Bank Ave. We spend time studying the Bible, praying, and getting to know one another.

If you’re interested in joining a home group, please speak to one of our elders on a Sunday.
