We are: Kids and Families
From tiny babies to leaving home for the first time...
We love having children and families as part of our life together as a church. We want to make everyone feel welcome, whatever stage they are in, so whether you are a parent or a child we hope you find something at YEC to make life and church a bit easier.
Sundays
We love having children in our church services, and we love being together as a big church family! However - like all families - we understand that this looks different for each age, stage and character so aim to provide ways in which everyone can engage with our Sunday services…
Singing
Every week we sing together, with at least one song having easier access for our younger members. This may be through actions, simpler words and ideas, or singing in a different way.
Children’s Talk
Our children’s talk is a short introduction to a theme we'll be looking at that day, and we always pray for each other at the end.
Sunday Groups
After the children’s talk, children and young people go to groups for age-appropriate teaching from the Bible, because we learn differently as we grow. Some families prefer to stay in for the whole service, and you are always welcome to do that.
All-age Services
There are also several Sundays throughout the year when we enjoy worshiping all together for the whole morning. We're delighted to have our preaching, praying, and singing shaped by and serving both the youngest and the oldest among us, and everyone in between!
Sunday Groups
Sparklers
Aimed at:
ages 0 – 5
A chance for our pre-school kids to get involved in the God's story through creative retelling, songs, and free play - with a snack!
Explorers
Aimed at:
School years 1 – 3
Every week our younger primary school aged kids explore what the Bible says about who Jesus is and what that means for them. This involves many things often including but not limited to drama, questions, craft, prayer, games, quizzes and songs.
Pathfinders
Aimed at:
School years 4 – 6
What did it look like for people in the Bible to know God? And what will it mean for me to walk with Jesus? The older primary aged kids get stuck into the Bible every week to learn about our God through reading, acting, praying and other fun activities.
Bible Class
Aimed at:
Secondary School
Bible Class meets once every three weeks for a discussion-based group on a recent sermon. Young people in years 7-13 are given a grounding in how to study the Bible for themselves, as well as being taught what it looks like to live as a young Christian.
Midweek Groups
Allsorts
Mondays 10am
60 South Bank Avenue
Allsorts is open to preschool children and their parents or carers. We meet on Monday mornings at 10 am at 60 South Bank Avenue. Activities include story time and craft, as well as the opportunity to play and chat.
Racerunners
Alternate Fridays
6:30 – 8:30pm
Racerunners is a great place for secondary school-aged young people to meet friends, hang out on a Friday night and hear about Jesus. We have lots of fun playing silly games and getting to know each other, as well as eating plenty of snacks!
