We are:
York
Evangelical
Church
YEC is a Bible-centered evangelical church with a heart for building genuine community, spreading the joy of the gospel and serving the city of York.
New to YEC?
Although YEC is an independent baptist church, we are affiliated with the FIEC and Affinity. We are part of the Yorkshire Gospel Partnership. As a church, we are committed to supporting and caring for the York community and are involved with a range of programmes such as The Besom in York, Restore York, Family Matters, Friends International in York, Young Life and YoYo.
The makeup of the church is varied, with people of all ages and from a variety of backgrounds. We have a number of families and love seeing children and young people running around together after church services. Our student ministry is growing and we always look forward to welcoming new students each September. We are very blessed to have a number of the older generation in our church family, bringing wisdom and maturity to the membership.
Sundays @ YEC
We meet twice on Sundays, at 10:30am for our morning service and 6pm for our evening service. Children’s groups run weekly during termtime in the morning service for ages 0-11 and every third week for those in secondary school. There is opportunity to stay and chat after both services, with refreshments provided after the morning service.
Both services are held at Millthorpe School in the South Bank area of York. We also own 60 South Bank Avenue, which is the location of our church office and a small multipurpose church building consisting of a meeting space, toilets and kitchen. This is used for smaller weekly groups and can be hired by the community.
There is ample parking at Millthorpe School. The main hall - where YEC meet - is most easily accessed via the Philadelphia Terrace entrance to the school and clearly signposted. There is also plenty of undercover cycle storage for those who may wish to cycle. Millthorpe is within walking distance from the city centre, and on a number of bus routes from the Theatre Royal or the station.
The school is fully accessible, with level access to the hall via the door from the side car park. Please ask if you need to access the church through this door and someone will be pleased to help you. There is a disabled WC’s available for the church to use.
YEC is a friendly, hospitable church and we love to welcome visitors. If you’re in York for a holiday, moving cities or a student starting university, we’d love to meet you and see how we can help you to settle in to the city and church.
